About this cinema

ACUD Kino has operated as a programme cinema in Berlin-Mitte since 1991, when the artists' collective ACUD took over the long-vacant building at Veteranenstraße 21. After extensive renovation, Kino 1 reopened in the courtyard in 2004 and Kino 2 followed in the front building in September 2006. The venue now runs two screens, seating 80 and 25.

Around 80 percent of the programme is German and European arthouse, with six films shown daily and a strong short-film and documentary slant; look for the recurring DEFA literary-adaptation series on 35mm. ACUD has screened as an official Berlinale venue since 2016, and the on-site Kantina works as a bar between shows.
