Babylon Kreuzberg

Dresdener Straße 126, 10999 Berlin

About this cinema

Babylon Kreuzberg began in 1955 as HELO, built into the ruins of a bombed apartment building on Dresdener Straße, and drew audiences from both sides of the nearby sector border. It operated as Kent through the 1970s with a Turkish-cinema programme before joining the Yorck group in 1986 under its current name. A 1989 renovation split the original single hall into two, seating 192 and 63.

Films run exclusively in English or in the original language with subtitles, and auditorium 1 was upgraded to 4K laser projection as part of a 2025 refit that also added air conditioning and new seating. The cinema's long late-night programme, including a recurring queer film series, has made it a fixture of Kreuzberg's arthouse scene.
