When it opened in September 1997 with twelve screens and 2,690 seats, the Hellersdorf CineStar was the first newly built multiplex in Berlin. In 2012 five of the halls were converted into BergWerk, described as Europe's largest indoor high-ropes course. Seven screens with 1,470 seats remain for film.
The programme is mainstream first-run cinema, almost all of it in German. Lift access to the halls is operated by staff, so tell the team at the entrance if you need it. The U5 stop Hellersdorf and the tram stop Stendaler Straße are both close by and step-free.
