filmkunst 66 Berlin
About this cinema
A cinema has stood on this Bleibtreustraße site since 1951, first as the Bleibtreu-Lichtspiele, renamed Capri in 1954 and rebuilt into filmkunst66 in 1966. Its programme-cinema era began on 1 October 1971. The original single hall closed in 1993 and reopened in 1995 as two screens, seating 100 and 200, with the foyer enlarged in 2012.
Come for daily arthouse programming with original-language, subtitled screenings, plus a long-running Sunday series on film's early masters and a beloved Laurel and Hardy festival. Word of mouth has drawn cinephiles from well beyond Charlottenburg to what's counted among Berlin's oldest and most traditional art cinemas.
