Filmtheater am Friedrichshain

About this cinema

Built in 1924/25 as the neoclassical Olympia-Filmtheater on the grounds of Friedrichshain's former brewery, the cinema became a UFA house in the 1930s, survived the war undamaged, and was nationalised under the GDR. Bought from the Treuhand in 1995 and rebuilt with Yorck Kino, its single hall became today's five screens behind a restored 1925 facade.

You're in a listed, century-old building that pairs a restored facade with laser 4K projection in its two largest halls. The programme leans arthouse and original-version, with a dedicated children's and youth strand hosting school screenings, Cinéfête, and the Berlinale's Generation strand, plus a beer garden for after the film.
