fsk Kino

Segitzdamm 2, 10969 Berlin

About this cinema

fsk was founded in 1988 by a six-person collective on Wiener Straße, in a room now home to the club Wild at Heart, with a bar out front and the screen in back. In 1994 it moved into a self-renovated former furniture shop at Oranienplatz, its current Segitzdamm address, splitting into two halls.

Expect most films in original version with subtitles, chosen collectively by five people committed to work that's politically and artistically convincing over commercially safe. The seats in the smaller hall are recycled Lufthansa airplane seats — the source, some say, of the cinema's cryptic three-letter name. fsk also runs its own distributor, Peripher, founded in 1997.
