Kant Kino
About this cinema
The Kant-Lichtspiele opened in 1912 with one hall and around 800 seats inside the Kant Hotel on Kantstraße; the former hotel lobby became the cinema entrance in 1929. Two further halls followed in the 1980s, and a 1997 rebuild brought the house to five screens. It has belonged to the Yorck group since 2011.
At Kantstraße you'll find a repertory programme — international films, documentaries and children's screenings — with both dubbed (DF) and subtitled (OmU) showings on the schedule. The 2017 renovation added air conditioning to the foyer and Cinema 2. It's an independent member of Berlin's Yorck cinema group, spread across five small halls.
