Kino im Zeiss-Großplanetarium Berlin

Prenzlauer Allee 80, 10405 Berlin

About this cinema

The Zeiss-Großplanetarium opened on 9 October 1987 as the last major showpiece building of the GDR, on the site of a former gasworks in Prenzlauer Berg, and became a listed monument in 2025. Next to its domed star theatre it has its own cinema with 160 seats, reopened with the house in 2016.

The cinema shows documentaries, feature films and children's programmes, and its programme has won several awards from the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Some films run in 3D. In 2023 the planetarium joined the Berlinale for the first time, through Berlinale Goes Kiez. Prenzlauer Allee S-Bahn station is right beside it.
