Kino UNION Friedrichshagen Berlin
About this cinema
The building at Bölschestraße 69 dates to 1870 as a residential house with an attached dance hall; the hall became a cinema in 1913 after wartime law banned public dances. Bomb damage in the war and a fire in the early 1950s interrupted it, and it closed in 1998 before reopening in December 2003.
A 2014–15 expansion took the house from one screen to three, built in a new wing on the former courtyard. Bars run throughout — a bistro counter and separate hall and basement bars — and the programme spans first-run films, DEFA classics, concerts and an open-air summer screen. The address is protected within the Bölschestraße heritage ensemble.
