Neue Kammerspiele Kleinmachnow
About this cinema
Built in 1936–38 as a cinema in Kleinmachnow, the Kammerspiele faced closure until a cooperative — Brandenburg's first cultural cooperative, founded in 2012 with over 300 members — took over its running. It has two screens, including the original hall with roughly 300 wooden fold-down seats, and doubles as a venue for theatre, concerts and readings.
Programming leans toward European arthouse cinema and older classics, including a monthly series pairing films with drinks and a Sunday slot for original-language screenings with subtitles. A themed strand made for older audiences runs monthly in partnership with an academy. The on-site bar, Schröders, is part of what keeps the place a neighborhood fixture beyond just film nights.
