Thalia Kino Berlin
About this cinema
Thalia Kino in Lankwitz was purpose-built as a cinema and opened on 24 October 1953 after a six-month construction period, on a plot that had stood vacant since 1930. It now runs four screening halls and remains one of Berlin's few privately owned cinemas.
The programme runs wide — children's films, arthouse alongside mainstream and blockbuster releases, plus previews and recurring series — pitched at a loyal, multi-generational neighborhood crowd rather than a single audience. It has held its ground in Lankwitz since the 1950s against every wave of multiplex competition.
